Periodic composite structures, like acoustic metamaterials (AMMs) and phononic crystals (PCs), are able to prevent the propagation of sound elastic waves for some specific frequency ranges, leading emergence so-called band gaps. So far, optimization metamaterial properties therefore gaps has been typically performed on passive PCs AMMs. Hence, gap cannot be tuned anymore after production process metamaterials; this problem can overcome thanks use active materials.
